2017-2018: Year of #CreativeResistance - Learn how to bring the arts & human rights education to

Art and Resistance Through Education (ARTE) is proud to continue our grassroots initiative to bring innovative and educational social justice workshops to your community.

Due to increasing demand, ARTE offers workshops for both young people and adults. ARTE focuses on the intersection of human rights with art, design, and technology. Some potential workshops themes include:

  • Art as a tool for social justice

  • Human rights education for youth

  • Using the arts to realize your social justice passion

  • Making human rights change through art and design

We are excited to work with you to explore how to best serve your community’s needs. We look forward to learning from and with you as we customize a workshop that will best support your own grassroots organizing. We also seek to build critical partnerships that will allow us to collaboratively make meaningful and sustainable human rights change. This is the time, now more than ever, that we believe communities can recognize their strengths and agency to make critical human rights change.

Workshops range from 60 minutes to full day-long workshops. Please contact marissa@artejustice.org more information. You may also fill out our workshop request form here and we'll get back to you shortly. While based in New York City, we are thrilled to explore ways to visit cities outside of our home base. Please visit www.artejustice.org to explore examples of our past and current work.

In the effort to build partnerships with other innovative organizations, we have collaborated with a number of individuals so far; here are some testimonials of ARTE’s work:

"The girls in the club liked the presentation very much. They loved that it was interactive and fun. Most of them told me that they never thought about art and human rights. They love how you can incorporate both. The club members told me that they would like to use some of what they learned for our club's future activities."

- Laissa Christelle Alexis, St. Vincent Academy

"This past December, NOI had the pleasure and honor of having ARTE lead a session at RootsCamp, our annual unconference. In keeping with our theme, "Breaking New Ground", Marissa and the team led a session that was both educational and empowering, where participants got to examine their hopes for the future and the tools and tactics they would use to achieve them, all depicted in a beautiful tree installation. ARTE's session brought a new dimension to RootsCamp, and we can't wait to work with them again!"

- Charles Amuzie, New Organizing Institute

We can’t wait to learn more about your community and make change together!
