Middle Schoolers Standing Up for Human Rights!
This past year, in collaboration with the non-profit youth development organization Global Kids, ARTE has led an after-school arts program for middle schoolers in Queens. Each week, students have explored various important human rights issues, including: child slavery, mass incarceration, and gender equality. Among their many creative projects, students have created several installations for their community, including a Human Rights Wall with their list of human rights aspirations for 2017. For this project, students traced stencils of the international human right logo and designed their own, drawing the human rights issues that were most important to them. We can't wait to see what their final project for the year will be!
