Nation Creation and Human Rights

A couple of weeks ago, ARTE students created flags for their own fictional nations, and had to choose a certain number of human rights from the UDHR to govern their nation. A starting point of 10 rights was slowly whittled down to a few- this forced the students to choose which rights were most important to them. Though the students highlighted a few rights, they are learning that human rights are interdependent, universal, and indivisible.
