Nelli Agbulos
Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Marianelli (“Nelli”) Agbulos is a lover of mountains and the arts. Nelli believes in the power of using art as activism to initiate and sustain social change. She believes that art is not just visual expression put on paper to convey a person’s thoughts and emotions; it is also the way people decide to live their lives.
Nelli graduated from Pace University in May 2017 with her Masters in Public Administration for Nonprofit Management, and double majors in Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies. She has been an advocate for issues of sexual violence since 2013. Nelli’s research and advocacy focuses on ending sexual violence and analyzing it through other intersecting forms of violence. She has done extensive research on intimate partner violence, human trafficking, and college sexual assault. Her most memorable project has been co-founding and being the former Executive Director of #PaceUEndRape, a volunteer-based organization that advocates for an end to all forms of sexual violence on the Pace University NYC campus. In her free time, she enjoys organizing pop-up galleries and artist talks, making her own artwork, and scouring NYC for new street art.
Nelli’s favorite piece of art is street artist @Acool55’s “Plastic Bride” piece for the way it makes viewers mindful of how they consume and dispose of plastic bottles.
