Mission

Art and Resistance Through Education (ARTE) engages young people to amplify their voices and organize for human rights change through the visual arts.

Furthermore, ARTE is an organization that uses art, design, and technology to empower young people to develop creative solutions and bring awareness to local and global human rights challenges, fostering leadership opportunities to train and organize other young people in their own communities.

In this work, ARTE remains at the intersection of community organizing, democratic participation and global citizenry, first established as a way to make the universal instruments of human rights and fundamental freedoms more accessible and relevant to teens between the ages of 13 and 21, through public, art-based community projects.

As ARTE develops innovative ways to engage young people, we continue to expand our programming to incorporate and encourage creativity through artistic multimedia design projects, incorporating technology to bring awareness to some of the world’s most pressing human rights problems.
