Mary Walle

​

A Michigan native, Mary Walle is a New York City based educator, artist, non-profit professional currently pursuing her Master's in Global History Berlin at the Universities of Frei and Humboldt. Her work in New York City has included organizing tenants in East Harlem, advocating for immigrants' rights, criminal justice reform & advocacy and working with teenagers to bring their voices into policy making decisions that affect them. Mary is most passionate about the intersection of art and faith with social justice. Her dedication and spirit is rooted in her Catholic faith, as well as her work with the Prison Creative Arts Project, where she collaboratively created original theater with adults and young men in the justice system. She is excited to be on the ARTE team to further the work of creating space for young people to express themselves, grow as leaders, and engage in the messy work of social change. Mary received her B.A. in History from the University of Michigan in 2013.

Her favorite piece of art is "Arc of Petals" by Alexander Calder.
